2009 – The Ties that Bind

by Tuesday, December 22, 2009 0 comments

Well, its been another year. For my final post of the year I wanted to thank everyone who’s had an influence in my life, for better or for worse. If you have been tagged, you are somewhere in this blog. Please try and find yourself.

First and foremost, thank you to everyone who reads this blog. Despite what many think, Diary of an ABC was not created after CLC. The first post was back in January. Since then its gone through many format changes and your feedback has always influenced these changes. In particular those who’s made the change from my myspace blog to this one. This blog would simply not exist if I did not get the feedback that I get.

Me: Man I'm going through credit so fast this year
Guy: because you have friends this year?
The soon to be St Kevins Class of 2010. In particular to the people who I have conversations with at during recess and lunch. The largest group of Asians in the whole school and a few white kids thrown in for the shits and giggles. David, Jonathan Choi. For another year of pure procrastination. Thank You.

Jackson’s score with pugna 1kill, 29 deaths. (January 15)
To those who have continued to play DotA with me. It’s be truely great playing with a bunch of people who has such a strong comradely.  You guys put up with my epic feed.We yelled at each other on vent, saving each other in the jaws of death and kill stealing like there is no tomorrow. Thank You.

Jackson learn to double badminton serve. (February 17th)
To the seconds badminton team. For a great season.  A season with only one lost, abusing each other at training every morning yet supporting each other at the games.  Thank you.

Things you need to be a real man. A job, a wife, AND YOUR LEARNING PERMITS -MSN conversation Quote #2
For music, the walks, the Mc Donalds, the chewing gum. For reminding me not to take life too seriously and to be spontaneous. For the 600+ games of Solitaire showdown with a 33% win percentage. Most importantly for having faith in me through thick and thin. Thank you.

We could illegally dl it (Dragon Ball Z Move),  then watch it for free on our own computers while talking on vent making it seem like at the movies pro?? – Quote 4
For staying in touch, epic MSN conversations, epic come backs, arguments and a truly great laugh. You guys think that I don’t laugh when when I invite you guys into one MSN conversation. You are terribly wrong. My parents are like, “what the hell is so funny?” For seeing a  movie with guys once every holiday, LAN party’s and discussions about dolphins.Thank you. Thomas Parasiuk

Mr. Gunaine "Do questions 1-4 and then 5 and 6"
Jackson: "So questions 1-6?" (End of Methods 3/4 class)

To the boys who dared to dream and did Method’s 3/4 this year as their year 11. In particular to
Nathan Harding; Before this year I only knew of you by reputation, yet from headstart week for some reason, it became clear our thoughts about maths was on the same level. Our aims were the same and the methods to achieve those aims were the same. I honestly do not believe that had I not been in your class I would have gotton over 40. I could not have asked for a better person (or  friend for that matter) to be in my Method’s class. Long hours in the library, during lunch and after school. Simply being able to understand the complexity (often simplicity) of my questions and being subsequently able to answer them, for the many mathematical conundrums, and for the imba math jokes we came up with. For putting up with me more than 15 periods a week. Thank You.

Tom Kelly and Vincent Chiang (for raising the bar,) Congratulations for your great score
(for copying off me in Dr He. Every. Fkn Week ;))  Thank You.

(coach): Jackson 5, Jackson 5, (Jackson get 5 meters away from the player or you give them a free hit)

Teammate: Is that your favourite band?

For failing in just about every game, yet still trying and scoring a few goals. It was despite the result, a great season as we never gave up. Thank you

Guy: God is imba(lanced.) He gave me a B+ for Mathematics !
To everyone I have helped over the year with mathematics. I actually learn a lot from it as it helps sort out how I do mathematics. I would love to help anyone next year just as I have this year.
Now for the most hectic 3 weeks of the year. It began with the Christian Living Camp. Despite all the hype I thought it would be just another camp. And unless you were there, or you go to St Kevins College you wouldn’t understand how great it was.
So this was whilst we were playing split. I think the friendly spirit between the girls from Barry and Taylor’s (slack) ethics class was epitomized in this moment.

Me: Don’t like her get on top of you!
Girl:… *laughs*
Guy: cringes
Everyone looks at me
Me: What…
To everyone, I had conversations with, to everyone who laughed at my speech, to everyone who made that camp something really special.I became incredibly more confident in myself and realise I wasn’t a complete oddity. (that sounds soooo retard.)
To the person I played sp(l)it with. Its surprising, how excited a person can get over a game of cards. For a great memory.(I didn't know your name until we were writing affirmation) =.= Thank you.
To the person who reminded me of the joy of music and essentially making me pick up piano again. I’m not sure you understand how much more piano I have played because of that one conversation. Thank You

Guy 1: Would you tap her?
Guy 2 (walking past): who you’re sister, yeah I would.
*fist fight*
To the person who destroyed, any reason, why I should continue to assume the best in people. Whilst you may find it alright to talk about other behind their back, I will not lower myself to your level. For opening my eyes to the fact that there are others who are not deserving of such assumptions. Thank You.
And such faith was restored. I took a leap of faith and it was rewarded. The contrast between the two nights were mammoth and there is little doubt which one I enjoyed more. If by some small chance  you are reading this, know that, whilst it did not work out, I regret nothing and I hope you feel the same. For the night and many emails. Thank You.

What do you think the Asian Mother’s society would think if I quit school and became a plumber?
To my “family friends.” Every public holiday, long weekend we gather together, often because we do not have a choice, and have a good chat about the most random things in the world. As we grew up these conversations followed. Often it is awkward, often it is pointless, but every time I leave, I realise I would have enjoyed the night or day. For many long nights, for epitomizing Asianess. Thank You.

Just get a good song, and late at night when no one is awake just do what ever feels natural as in, dancing, not whatever –MSN conversation
For getting in touch with old friends. Primary School was 5 years ago, yet by some miracle we still have much to talk to each other and much to relate with one another. For reconnecting and and intelligent conversations about the past, present and the future. Thank You.

Me: Did you know the f-hole looks exactly like the integration sign?
The what?
Me: The hole on the violin
oh...
Me: Why what you thinking of?
:P

Do not think I have forgotten you. The only person who knows my facebook password, for helping me through an eventful year. For your “sagely” advice, stopping me doing anything stupid, fixing my facebook and MSN conversations with strangers.Thank you.

2 minutes after Methods exam. a text. who could it possibly be from?
For the study sessions in the state library, the many chess games, my complaints about maths, and for being an all around easy person to talk to. No one is more deserving of your 50. Thank You.

People I owe favors too. I do not forget, ask me and i'll come good. For giving me those favors in the first place. Thank You.

Truly 2009 has been a great year. I wish all my readers a very Merry Christmas and a great New Year. I'll be gone for the new year and much of January. I hope to see all of you on the other side as we face 2010.
