Sunset at Brighton Beach, New Years Day
Hey guys! Well another year has come and gone and I once again find myself writing an end of year post.
In a year of revolutions, Psy, elections, Kony and Call me maybe, 2012 has been a year of growth where knowledge has been abundant to the point where it gets overwhelming.
There's only so much you can learn before you question, whether you're learning too fast, whether you can process the information and apply it. When we learn about a concept, we need to learn to apply it to learn, to practice and practice before we can actually apply it.

It has 250+ likes. Something I'm proud of.
Then when you learn about yourself, you learn too much about yourself, you forget to remember who you were and everything you wanted to do.
I've learnt to trust my gut and all the pitfalls and joys that comes with it. I've built more bridges then I've burnt. The bridges that I've burnt I don't regret. Some just waste away, some just can't be maintained and others need to burnt, so that whatever is on the other side can't cross over.
This year, this has been me; unsure of the future, unsure of what I've done and unsure of what I've become. I'm not sure what to do with myself.
In a year where, we all grew up a little, we learnt the problems that comes with looking at the world beyond teenage eyes.
This year we started to look towards the future and realised it wasn't enough to just say we will make the big decisions next year.
The future that we've all been preparing for has reared it ugly head.
Whether we like it or not, next year we're going to have to face it. Face it, make a decision and live with the results;be they good or bad.
This year I've done a few firsts. I've had some very mild drunken antics, called the police twice, had the police called on me, been in a car accident and made money on the share market.
Some things however, don't change. This blog still has a strong readership and my appreciation for everyone who reads this is still the same. Thank you, for waiting for the fewer posts, the syntax and punctuation errors and the lack of regular post schedule. I wouldn't blog, if I knew that you didn't read this and the feedback that I get from everyone. So thank you for reading this corner of the internet.
So here we go, for the 6th time, I say thank you; to the friends who keeps me honest, smiling and deflating my head.
To Amanda, Gab, Josh, Mina and Sam. Looking back at it, the whole year would have been a whole lot different if it wasn't for you guys. There'd probably been less dramas, fewer harsh words and fewer late night on skype and facebook. But, if it meant not having the memories this year and not having the smiles, I would say it is a small price to pay.
To Amanda Chong - Halliday, thank you for the many conversation about Revenge and Homeland. Thank you for splitting the locker with me and putting up with all my crap that was in it over the year. Most of all, thank you for your opinion. It is yours, the least judgemental and the most decisive that I value the most.
To Gabriella Sgro, thank you for the odd stares, the odd looks and the conversations in the car and the taxis. Thank you for those strange photos with the strange expression that never made it onto Facebook. Thank you most, for your ear and your advice. When I needed a smile and to cheer up, I came to you.
To Joshuah Wren, thanks you for the legal advice, the financial help and laughing at my jokes even though some weren't all that funny. Thank you for another year of train trips home and the enthusiastic 500 games. Thank you most, for the confidence you gave me to enter the share market after seeing you take the first step.
To Mina Basorum, thank you for all the answers and the assignments through the year, for the endless honey chicken, the shitty materials lectures and earth lectures. Thank you for making the year go faster and quicker with your antics and shenanigans.
To Sam Briggs, thank you for being the mature one, for trying to organise trips away and always being reliable. Sometimes level headed-ness is the needed to make sure everything goes smoothly; without a glitch. Thank for deflating my head; when it got too big for everyone, let alone me.
There are very few things that I regret this year. I don't regret not going to New Zealand. It would have been nice but, those holidays was a time I enjoyed immensely. It would not have been me if I suddenly told work, I couldn't work.
If nothing else, I have always tried to be reliable to my friends. To not change my mind and to live with my decisions; right or wrong is a value that I work hard on. I could have changed my shifts, but it was not something I would have been proud of doing.
I suppose not changing ones mind is something I look in people. Take time in making decisions and stick with it. Changing it cause more problem then it solves. I suppose I'm stubborn that way.
To Catherine Glassenbury, there are very few friends that I made this year and I'm fortunate you were one of them. Hell, you're one of the few who argues with me (I have no idea why anyone argues with me ever, I mean why waste your breath.) For that holiday, when all my friends were away, for the countless late night conversation staying up till 3 or 4, when I really should have been asleep and for all the music and movie suggestions, thank you.
To Declan and Susan, its been another wonderful year. There are very few, who can stay so true to their friends and fewer still that can do it so easily.
To David and Yash, thank you for all your help this year, both academic and personal. There were many drunken night together, many complaining about results, lectures and lectureres. Thank you.
To Allan, Declan, Elliot, thank you for another year of bowling and daytona. I think we've finally improved enough to say we're consistently above 100. Next year, we'll beat that that intermediate level on Daytona. To Allan in particular thank you for all the conversations and advice you've given me over the course of the year. They have been invaluable and its comforting to know that someone thinks like me sometimes.
To, Roonespism, Soz and Ulalah, to a wonderful year of "playing the DotA." The trust in our own abilities and each other has grown immensly. Without you guys, I wouldn't play DotA. Tom's epic hooks, Soz taking my farm and Ulalah destroying shit when we we're doing well and failing when we don't.
To Chris, Mikey and Blair, to another year of mousehunt. M0u53hun4 4 lyf3. As we all draw closer to starting new areas, next year will be very different for Mousehunt.
To Alice He, my oldest friend, thank you for another year of blogging. You might not know it but often when I read your blog, and I haven't blogged for a while often I think "If Alice can still update, so can I." Thank you for everything you've helped me with this year. You better still be at Uni next year.
To Amelia, Laura, Olivia, Ashwin, Kenneth, Louise, Raymond, Steph and Catherine. Thank you for all the advice, all the smiles and all the jokes you've given me over the year. Thank you for being at my birthday and making it so memorable.
This year, I handed in my resignation at Bakers Delight. I will have been there for about a year and a half. For someone who usually so calculating in my decision this one wasn't. Its just that, I needed to move on regardless of what I did afterwards. To Emily, Caitlin, Liana and Drewy, I'll miss you guys. For real (getit, we're for real, oh nvm).
These are my friends of 2012. The ones that has influences me, the ones that gets on my nerve and the ones that make me happy. In 2012, I've grown my cynical my calculating, but these are the friends I'll defend blindly and without question. Thank you, for everything. Thank you for 2012.
It has not been an easy year, but looking back, I don't think I have a regret.
Next year, we need to remember the work we've done over the year and make sure its not wasted, however, we still need to enjoy ourselves. If it takes a Korean, super pop star, a video with a billion views to show us how to let our hair down then we don't have any other excuse. As students, we need to study but nothing says that we can't smile whilst doing so.
To all these friends, to my readers and everyone else that's touched my life this year, I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

But remember
The moments of tonight

The hours of the future
