Its been good. The first holiday I think ever, where I did absolutely nothing. That coupled with not playing DotA means a lot more times on my hands.
Not going to lie, the reactions I got from everyone else when I said I'm not playing DotA anymore could have been better.
We all started playing at the end of year 8 at Huntingtower. There was a school meet-up for fundraising and one of our friends were like, come play this game.
And so begins the story.
And so begins the story.
We would spend so much time to set up a game for an hour and play for 20 minutes. Those days, we knew crap all the game. Its like playing hockey and not knowing how to hold the stick.
But god damn, those 20 minutes and getting those first kills was addicting.
From there we played on the Bored Aussies server. Those games were tough, especially starting out, but we stuck through it together.
Whilst we played DotA we would catch up and talk about everything. It was one of the only times when I talked to them because I had left Huntingtower.
And yeah, if DotA has given me nothing else, it has given me these friends.
DotA has been the basis of many friendships in the past and I have no doubt it will continue to be in the future.
Now, I think we have our moments, where we can take it up to some very high skilled players and hold our own. Thomas can do it consistently.
Gaming is like any other hobby which requires a skillset that you need to develop and refine to continue to learn and improve. Like any other hobby or skill practice makes perfect and without it you can see it diminish.
I don't know about others, but I concentrate better after playing a few games and there is no way, my reactions would be so sharp without DotA. Without it, I wouldn't be so decisive in many decisions that I make.
Gaming has given me friends and many stories that I won't forget; both on and off the computer.
That is why I don't understand why when I say, I've been playing DotA with friends everyone gives me the worst judging look ever. Its like saying, I've been playing basketaball with friends.

When someone says, I enjoy playing computer games, think about what they're saying before you judge.
