Thank you

There are some things that are more important to me than I think they are for others. Which I think is normal, right, different people have different values and different things that are important to everyone. For a long time time now, I've noticed my friends and friendship have hugely defined a huge part of what motivates me.

This is the fourth year I've done held something, coinciding with the end of the teaching period for semester 2. It has become something that I look forward to and the tradition is something that has crept up on me, something which I have grown both fond and proud of.

Last night was a chance for everyone to unwind, catch up and just enjoy everyone's company. Somewhere down the line, instead of presents, I turned it into fund raising for Beyond Blue. (Literally the only charitable thing I do all year.) Here's the receipt from the donation.

To my friends, I cannot say thank you enough. Every year, I invite a whole bunch of people not expecting everyone to hit attending. When that happens.I don't expect everyone to actually show up and when they actually do, I don't expect everyone to come. Then I didn't expect such a big number this morning when I counted it all up.

380. Its a massive number. A lot larger than last year, bigger than what I expected and just an all round amazing number. Its all the more remarkable because the it wasn't my 21st, there were fewer people this year and it was just an ordinary night. For someone who likes to find the cause behind the effect, 380 is not explainable.

So thank you. Thank you for everything; your generosity, all the conversations, the food, the drinks, the night but most importantly everyone's company. In particular, to David, thank you for all your help in organizing this, your advice and all the help you gave me last night.I know some of you guys took time off work, stayed an extra night Melbourne, sacrificed what would otherwise have been some amazing study time and all the Monash students who had to drive all the way in, catch long public transport trips to get to somewhere that was a little out of the way. Its really something, knowing that my friends would do all that for just one night out.

Until next year,

~TastyJacks~
