Hey guys! I never in intended this blog to become political, especially not about school yard drama. But I feel I have to write something.
There was an incident on Thursday night at debating. I was in the thick of it. Unless you are socially out of the loop at St. Kevins or Sacre Couer, you will know about it.
I'm not even going to go into how he's such a good bloke and what not. Because really I don't need to. Even if I was completely unbiased to both parties reputation I would be supporting Mason.
I've heard a lot of lots version of the story so here's what actually happens. Skip italics if YOU are certain you know the entire and whole story. (e.g. first hand)
G= Mason's ex
Qz = Declan
SKC 5 was up against SAC 1. We were preparing happily away when about 40 mins before the debate we were informed that G was on the other team. We continued to prepare. About 15 minutes before the start Mason walks in and helps us prepare. It was at this point that I offered Mason my position as chair of the debate. Yes I did realize that G was Mason's Ex.
As soon as our first speaker got up to speak it became clear that the final debate would be a joke of a debate. We didn't take it too seriously and had come up with semi-serious arguments like 5 year olds should be sent to juvie.
When Qz got up to speak, Mason introduced him saying. "Well the next speaker is pretty bad so we'll just skip to the next speaker" to which Qz replied "He's just angry because I refused his offer of butt sex."
It is worth noting here that most people in the room laughed from the adjudicator to G.
Debate continues on with little incident until Mason is introducing G (his Ex.) This is what he said. Word for word.
"The following speaker is bad at Madden, pretty good at guitar hero and alright at some other things, I should know."
Adjudicator asks if she wants to make an official complaint at the end of the debate, She says no. Aujudicator hands the debate to SKC. LOL JOKES! Sac won by 12 points. (he actually send he handed the debate to St. Kevins and then went LOL JOKES)
We all leave. I didn't see much what happen afterwards. Next day news hits us that G told her school that Declan has inferred that she had rejected Jack's offer of butt sex.
I was there on Thursday night when all this happen. I was also there 3-4 weeks before. If you think that Mason is the only evil character in this story then you are wrong. Mason has coped a lot of flak from false rumors and malicious slander that night and over the month. He has however never tried to return this slander in kind and as far as I'm concerned couldn’t have acted any better.
Mason has more integrity than most boys at St. Kevins I know. Most boys at St. Kevins would have reacted and (rightly so) had they been questioned as he has. But Mason taken it on the chin and ignored her for several months. He could have reported her and then some.
But he didn't.
And now we're in the situation where from one little jibe, made in a humorous context, (we lost by 12 points for god sakes.) has been reported to the school. Again I am not condoning what Jack said, but this dobbing into relevant authorities and blowing it completely out of proportion and is little more than an attempt to get revenge at Jack.
I'm not going to comment about the actions the leadership group at school has taken in stripping him of all his leadership position. All I'm asking my readers to do, particularly those who are part of the student body at St. Kevins is to consider the facts and then judge. I feel that he has been unjustly victimized by the other party.
