Short 2 -Paths
The nature of our lives means that we can only take on path forward. The destination of which each path leads to, we don’t know. Yet, blindly we take it forward. We can do nothing but hope for the best, and trust that each path we take is the correct one.
Yet often we have our doubts that we are taking the right paths. We wonder whether the world ahead in front of our path is any better than the other which we could have taken. If we had taken them would it be more fun and more exciting? Would we be more successful or happier?
We smile and say that the path we took was the best one. We try and justify the path we take, telling others that it was the best one for ourselves at the time. But inside we wonder and watch the others who took others paths. The same paths that we could have taken.
We look at them often with jealousy when we see that the their paths are better.
I’ve decided to taken an undergraduate degree in Melbourne when I get out of high school later this year. I know about 90 % of people I’ve asked will probably disagree with me.
In the end I reckon I can make more of a different in society if I become an engineer. One of my friends said more or less, “The money you’ll make will make a difference with. But there are others that will not.” I know a lot of you guys will say that I should be pick a job that I’ll be passionate about. Something I enjoy.
But in the end I enjoy making a difference. And I honestly think that I can make more of a difference to society if I become an engineer.
I've heard all the arguments. I should be thinking of myself, I can make more of a difference being a teacher. Yes I know all this. But in the end, a lot of charities need monies. A lot of charities need money then they need volunteers. And if I have more money I won't have to work as much and can volunteer more.
And like usual, I'm doing what is right, rather than what I'd enjoy. I will be looking at teaching and telling myself that, that could me. And I'll most probably regret it.
But sometimes you have to live life with regrets.
Comments would be HUGELY appreciated.

mr ross did 3 years of an engineering degree before becoming a teacher, i still think you will end up teaching
i agree with anonymous, dude, every1 ive asked thinks u would be an awesome teacher, thts just who u r, and fo the record u will make a bigger difference as a teacher, no doubt about it, and living life with regrets never ends well. Thts all i can say, but its ur decision, do what feels right.
Maybe you should try tutoring first, just to see how it feels. Imagine if you do a education degree, and then you realise you hate it! Try to get as much experience as possible?
the salary of the teacher aint so bad so donations and charity is still possible (if your not satisfied, try investments), plus you get more time to do volunteer work, since you got more holidays then most other jobs. Also teaching is also directly helping the next generation of kids. im sure that you would enjoy teaching more than engineering. (the only plus side in engineering is that you MIGHT (but not necessarily) earn more money. btw my dad did engineering and dropped it to become a teacher as well. (he's a physics teacher - kinda engineering)
Jack. No matter what you're doing I will always support you and I know that whether a teacher or an engineer, you will strive to (and therefore you will) make that difference that you want to see in this world.
As long as you believe in yourself, the path you take will always turn out alright.
