Why So Serious?
The worst thing about turning 21, or growing up is how serious everyone is. It almost seems like when turning 21, all of a sudden, we're expected to be able to do all these things. To have all these plans for the future, to know what we're doing and to know all these things about how what makes your brain works and how it affects what you do.
Its a lot harder to know what the right path is. We all lie, to ourselves as we make plans for a future that we have no real understanding of, so we guess, sometimes blindly, other times based on what we know and the experience of friends and family. We read and we study, and hope that in the future, everything that we prepared for is enough.
Other times, we're immobilized by how daunting the future is. Its like a massive black hole, where we don't know what's there. There, we lie to ourselves, saying that our present is enough, that when the future comes, any well laid plans will be useless, not enough to grow. Thus, it'd be simply better to sit and wait for whatever come.
Either way, we lie to ourselves. We claim that our future will be under our own control, that we know what we're doing. Really, we're just pretending.
But seriously, why is everyone so serious about life these days. "Dress code cocktail, gotta make sure you wear a suit to your interview, gotta find the best bank for extra $$$, gotta do my tax so the government doesn't my sorry poor ass." So many rules, so many dumb things to do.
Why so serious. Why not just mess around and chill.
Because we're not going to be successful in the future. Yeah, seems like a fair argument.
BUT I DON'T WANT TO BE RESPONSIBLE! Can't we just like, not have all these rules, and be successful in the future.
That would be nice. Seriously.
But I think that's a little too much to ask.
