Ignorance is Bliss
Bliss is Happiness
Happiness is Ignorance
It was a lot like that, but on a much grander and larger scale. I guess it wasn't the amount of things to do, but how interesting each installation was. They all made you wonder and see things that you would not normally think about otherwise which was really nice. It facilitated discussion and the mass of people only added to the atmosphere and it felt like a genuinely interesting night, without the undertones of it being too exclusive.
Hmm, lets get the negative stuff out of the way first. Manus Island, the "Australian" detention facility for asylum seekers (yes, I get the irony) had a riot.
Well that's pretty normal right? Prisons have riots all the time, I mean, asylum seekers get put into prison right? Oh wait, sorry its a processing center, my bad.
A "detainee" was killed in the riots. Okay, that can't be normal now. I mean, remember the big uproar we had a few years ago when we had a death in police custody. There was huge media storm, but now, this time apparently no one cares (again) that the Australian government is treating asylum seekers really poorly.
Don't get me started on how Scott Morrison wasn't able to get his facts straight. Seriously, if our own minister for immigration doesn't know what's happening in Manus island then who does. Its like saying, Obama didn't know America was spying on Merkel. Ok, its not quite the same but you get the picture.
You know something is really going astray, when there is not sense of accountability or responsibility in this government. Nobody seems to care when our government screws up.
Lets see, something more humorous.
So a lot of my friends have commented on my lack of obviousness in portraying sarcasm. Which I'm not going to lie is probably true. I guess its kind of crept on me, I swear it use to be obvious to the normal person.
Anyway, they've termed this the "0 inflexion sarcasm," which I'm not going to lie, wouldn't be the worst thing to catch on.
Sarcasm should be obvious, having said that it shouldn't need to be really obvious through tone of voice. People say, sarcasm is the lowest form of wit. I disagree. Sarcasm when used appropriately shows disdain and something which shouldn't need to be said; something a lot of other devices can't show as well.
It should be really obvious, when I say really stupid things to people, that it is sarcastic. I mean, sure it doesn't hurt for me to make it extremely obvious, but I feel that then it makes sarcasm loses its value.
