I'm sure a lot of these will find this post ironic but you know, whatever.
What about that time you decided to ask someone out by text? Well to be fair you probably didn't think that one out all that much .
Anyway. Think of all of the words you've ever written and then ask yourself since when was it okay to write "Your part of the assignment is horrible and all wrong. LOL."
Guys, if you think something is bad or you need to take someone down a notch, don't follow it up with Lol. Lol doesn't make things okay. Nor, does it make it nice. Just because you wrote the word Lol I don't think it's any less offensive nor does it soften the blow. My feelings don't feel any better because you wrote Lol.
Your 10+ years of education and you can't find the words to say what you want in a tone that you want so you decide to go with "Lol?" I mean, what does that even mean LoL. Did you actually laugh when you said my assignment was horrible? Is it supposed to make me feel better? Or does it mean that you're not serious and that you were joking when you said my assignment was horrible?
If you want to say something offensive then just grow a spine and say it.
Then there's all the political correctness in the world where we can't say anything without the fear of offending. Apparently, us disagreeing with people is just plain bad.
Maybe, we don't want to be confrontational. Yeah, okay fair enough. But we have to stop seeing disagreements as being a dick or making friendship incompatible.
"Oh, I don't want to offend others so I didn't say anything, even though I knew I was right. But you know I'm going to talk about how dumb they are behind their back because that's less offensive."
"But Jackson you do this all the time, it's not okay to argue with people. OMG you can't just say these things. OMG Jackson you have big ears and helmets don't fit on your massive head." (It's true.) But arguing with people should be okay. Disagreeing should be okay. You can't go through life not voicing your opinion when someone says something stupid. Nor should you.
Whilst I'm at it can we also stop using the same words over and over again? Keen for instances. The only time keen should be used is if it's followed up with beans and even then that's outdated; no one eats beans anymore.
